This notice is in regards to children who attend Wayne County Public Health Immunization Clinics. As of August 1st, 2011, Wayne County Public Health is required by the New York State Department of Health to charge an administration fee for each vaccine a child receives at our Immunization Clinic. However, there is no cost for a clinic appointment.
Wayne County Public Health can bill Medicaid, Managed Medicaid, and some third-party insurances for this administration fee. For all other types of insurance or if you do not have health insurance, administration fees are determined by a sliding fee scale based on your family income. For many families, there will be no fee.
Wayne County Public Health Staff will now need to gather health insurance information and family income information on children and adults who do not have health insurance. Please make sure you bring this information with you to your scheduled clinic appointment.
If you have any questions regarding this new fee or concerns about your ability to pay this fee, please feel free to call Wayne County Public Health at 315-946-5749 or toll free at 800-724-1170.
Appointments are still available for our upcoming Rabies Vaccination Clinic Saturday, June 26 from 10-Noon at the Walworth Town Barns. You must pre-register to attend. To register go to Visit this site to register or call our office at (315) 946-5749.
As of October 2012 Wayne County Public Health will only be able to immunize VFC qualified children. This is a NYSDOH mandate. To qualify a child must meet the following criteria: American Indian, uninsured, underinsured, Medicaid, and Child Health Plus. The administration fee remains in affect. The Vaccine For Children program is for 2 months to 18 years of age.

Vaccine Information Statements
Vaccine Information Statements (VISs) are information sheets produced by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that explain to vaccine recipients, their parents, or their legal representatives both the benefits and risks of a vaccine. Federal law (exit) requires that VISs be handed out whenever (before each dose) certain vaccinations are given.
Detailed recommendations for using vaccines are available from the manufacturers' package inserts, Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) statements on specific vaccines, and the 2003 American Academy of Pediatrics Red Book.
Guidance on how to obtain and complete a Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) form is available online or by telephone, 800-822-7967.
